Fibreglass or vinyl liner
The honest comparison.
Most pool companies sell whichever one they install. We install both, so here is the straight version — including where fibreglass is the wrong answer.

Short version: fibreglass suits most standard yards and costs less to own over time. Vinyl liner wins when you want a shape or depth a moulded shell cannot give you, or when the up-front budget is the binding constraint. Not sure? Say so on the form — it is the most common answer and it is the right one at this stage.

Questions people actually ask
When should I book to swim next summer?
Earlier than most people expect. Ontario’s install season is short, and the calendar for spring fills through the winter. If you want to swim in July, the conversation should happen the previous autumn or early in the new year — that leaves time for design, permits and scheduling before the ground opens up.
Do I need a permit and a fence?
Yes. Municipalities across Elgin County and London require a permit for an inground pool and enforce pool enclosure by-laws covering fence height, gate latching and self-closing hardware. The specifics differ between St. Thomas, Southwold and Central Elgin. We deal with this as part of the job rather than leaving it with you.
How disruptive is the installation?
There will be an excavator in your yard and it will not be tidy while it is happening. The honest answer is that access matters more than anything — if we can get equipment to the back of the property without going through a finished garden, the disruption is much smaller. We tell you which it is at the site visit, before you commit.
What happens over the winter?
The pool gets closed before the first hard frost — water level dropped, lines blown and plugged, equipment drained, cover on. Skipping it or leaving it too late is how people end up replacing cracked plumbing in the spring. We handle openings and closings as a seasonal service, so this does not become your problem. Can you do the landscaping and the deck as well?
Yes. Decking, grading, walkways and retaining walls around the pool are part of the same job, and we also build outdoor kitchens, spas and saunas. Doing it together is the point — a pool dropped into a yard by one contractor and landscaped by another rarely sits right.
Do you service pools you did not install?
Call and ask — capacity varies through the season. If we can help with an opening, closing or equipment issue on an existing pool, we will say so directly.
